Valentines – 11 New Works for Flute

Great creative artists know how to take advantage of serendipity in their work. This collection of Valentines is a case in point. When it turnedout that Carol Wincenc’s Naumberg Retrospective Concert fell on Februar y 14th, inspiration hit. She called upon composers that had written other works or concertos for her and said, “How would you like to write a Valentine?” This collection is the magical result. A variety of styles and moods by some of today s finest composers, including Arnold Black, Lukas Foss, Henryk Gorecki, Tobias Picker, Christopher Rouse, Peter Schickele, Paul Shoenfield, Roberto Sierra, Michael Torke, and Joan Tower.
