Prelude 22 – Solo Bb Trumpet

This is the 30th anniversary of the composer’s setting out to compose a Prelude for every instrument, working with a soloist in the process to explore the idiomatic soul of each – quite a learning experience! This one, for solo trumpet (but with the opportunity of audience participation), fits into a grander scheme – a sequence exploring the ideas of astronomy.

Prelude 22 (The Big Bang) was written for Mark O’Keeffe who premiered it at the St Magnus Festival, Orkney, on June 22nd 2005.
