Three Little Trumpet Pieces – Trumpet and Piano

The Three little Trumpet Pieces were composed during the Christmas period of 2003 contemporaneously with the providing of accompaniments to melodies composed by Malcolm Weale.

A little March.
Little inasmuch as it is brief with a diatonic theme at start and finish; no trio section, but a set of sequences in the middle which involve moving away from the tonic.

Carol.
A straightforward melody adapted from an original carol for younger voices, but with a few accidentals in the middle. For present purposes, the accompaniment and the key differs from the vocal setting.

Waltz Partners.
A short dance that is more demanding in style and technical aspects than the other pieces, and anequal partnership in terms of the musical material.
