The legendary Humes & Berg mutes continue to be the choice of professionals and students worldwide. These classic mutes are well known for their quality and playability. The white and red design can be seen on videos and pictures going back to the great era of swing and big bands, they were (and still are in many cases) the no.1 choice for Jazz musicians and are suitable in all genres.
The classic straight mute is possibly the most used mute for brass players. Whether it be classical or jazz the straight mute has a use and it’s something everyone should carry with them. Commonly these can be made of aluminium which can give quite a bright or perhaps tinny sound. The Humes & Berg mutes are made of their ‘Stonelined’ material which gives a more muted and softer response and tone than the metal mutes which are available.
